University Library
The University Library has been computerizing its operating systems to increase efficiency and to provide quality service programs. Terminals which are linked to the National Institute of Informatics are now available for obtaining nationwide information about academic publication and library catalogs. Also available are terminals connected to the mainframe computers of other libraries which can be used for specific book searches and for making loans to and from another library. Checking out and returning of books, preparation of catalogs, searching for books and reception of journals within the library are all controlled by computerized information processing system.
The library's growing collection includes valuable special collections such as (i) B.H. Chamberlain and T. Sugiura Collection, (ii) Manyo Library, (iii) Modern Poetry Library, (iv) Textbook Library, (v) Meirin-do Classic Library of Chinese and Japanese Books, (vi) Library of the Local History, They serve the research needs of faculty and students as well as of scholars from outside the campus.
